Health and Wellbeing
By Bex Tereu
So last weekend I was a little bit cheeky and decided to indulge in my Mother’s Day present a whole week early…So shoot me! Lol
Truth be told, and despite how it sounds, I actually had very unselfish motives.
I was thinking of all you Mama’s who have yet to land a home run on the hint’s you’ve been throwing out. How’s that going by the way?
I wanted to go and experience first hand what this Floating business was all about as I’d heard so much about it and the benefits sounded unreal!
So what is this floating business? Well without going into all the technical detail, think ZERO Gravity. You get to literally float in a big beautiful pod filled with magnesium salt that does all sorts of amazing things for your body, soul and mind.
They said floating could help with stress, aches and pains, sleep, anxiety and depression, muscle recovery, high blood pressure, arthritis/Fibromyalgia, Back pain, meditation, and so on.
Now I don’t have all these issues (THANK GOD), but there are a few on there I could relate to – and I knew people who had already ‘floated’ and couldn’t shut up about it. In short: I had to try!!
I talk a lot on here about the importance of being kind to yourself and doing things that bring you joy. Even if you can only find a micro moment in that crazy busy life of yours – it’s worth investing some time, attention and $ in yourself! What kind of hypocrite would I be if I didn’t follow my own advice right? So when the opportunity arose to go floating – I jumped on it (or floated into it?!).
I have to say, from the moment I walked into @Zen Float Spa I felt like I mattered. The lady on duty was warm, friendly, intuitive, and I could tell she really cared about those who walked through that door. She also knew her stuff! (Bonus!)
The float room was beautiful, private, and I felt very spoiled with all the yummy products we HAD to use in the shower before jumping in the pod. Well gee…if you insist….!
I must admit, I was a little dubious at how ‘all of this’ was going to actually float, but true to their promise, that 500KG’s of magnesium loaded salt ensured ‘all of this’ did indeed float (yes I am referring to the size of my booty/body).
I think the hardest part of the experience, as mentioned in an earlier post on my facebook page, was taking control of my busy thoughts and commanding my brain to shut the hell up.
It’s a very peaceful, tranquil environment and I can see how people actually do fall asleep in the pods. So the experience was perfect, but my brain was just doing it’s thing: being my brain. I did feel myself drift off at one point but then I started thinking about that…and well…you know how it goes.
In the end, I couldn’t ‘float still’ and had to spin around a couple of times and go on a little floating tiki tour around the pod. I felt like a bit of a rebel, and I know this is not the thing we must do whilst floating…but just quietly…it really was the best part of my 1 hour.
Float etiquette aside, the point is - whatever makes you happy right?
So I have to give this place a 10 out of 10 in every respect and highly recommend you give floating a try.
Just a quick little testimony while I’m here. I had the beginnings of a frozen shoulder after surgery number 2 and I can’t keep my arm above my head for more than a few minutes at a time without wincing in agony when I bring it down again. I had my arm up over my head for the majority of this time as I wanted to test these pain management theories and when I brought it back down…nothing. Nada. No pain at all. WOW.
Zen Float Spa is legit and I’ll definitely be going back.
To celebrate this glorious find, and to celebrate YOU glorious mother’s out there, I’ve decided to give away some of their products that I bought (no this is not a paid advertisement lol).
Here's how to enter:
Go over and give their page a like simply because they are awesome, and tag someone in my Zen facebook post (preferably your mother lol) who you think could do with some Zen Float love.
I’ll draw it on Mothers Day! Get going beautiful ladies x
And why not go and check out their website and facebook page while you're floating around out there. Ok I'll stop now.
